Back the cleaners, porters and security staff at Bart’s NHS trust 

**Join the march tomorrow, Saturday 15 July assembling from 11.15am at the Royal London Hospital, Turner Street, E1 (nearest tube Whitechapel). Shadow chancellor, John McDonnell MP to speak at 12 noon, bring trade union banners**

Up to 1,000 workers in Bart’s NHS Trust which includes Bart’s Hospital, the Royal London Hospital, Mile End Hospital and Whipp’s Cross Hospital are currently on a week long strike having escalated their action from a previous 3 day strike.

The culmination of the strike is a demonstration this Saturday which will march from the Royal London Hospital to Mile End Hospital. Let’s make this a big show of support for these strikers who are taking on rich multinational SERCO. Please bring union/ campaign banners.

A further 14 day strike is due to take place from Tuesday 25 July. The NUT is holding a Carnival Against Cuts this Sunday 16 July, assembling at midday at 12 noon and rallying in Parliament Square at 1.30pm for the flyer go here

Scrap the cap, start the fight on pay now 

In a special bulletin on pay, Unite the Resistance joint national secretary, Sean Vernell argues, “Clearly the Tories and employers are on the ropes over pay. The firefighters 2% pay offer should signal the opening of a tidal wave of claims that breaks the pay freeze.” Go here to read more
Eastern Ave Job Centre, Sheffield to strike again 17-21 July 

Following their very succesful strike on 2 June. PCS members at Eastern Avenue job centre in Sheffield are on strike for 5 days next week (Mon-Fri) against the closure of their office. BA mixed fleet cabin crew strikes 

The current 16 day strike by BA cabin crew ends at midnight this Sunday. A further 14 day strike starts Wed 19 July. Check the BA solidarity FB page here. Messages of support and donations can be sent here

Mears housing workers on strike until 4 August 

Housing maintenance workers employed by Mears are on strike over unequal pay rates across the country for the same job. The Manchester Unite members are out until 4 August.

Bank of England set for strikes! 

Maintenance, ‘parlours’ and security staff at the Bank of England are set to strike over pay in the first BoE strike in 50 years after a 95 percent vote for action. Strikes are set for 31 July- 3 August. More detail here

Birmingham Council Refuse strikes continue 

Following a 24 hour strike refuse workers are continuing their two hour strikes over job losses and bullying. The strikes continue on 19 and 27 July and 4 August. Read more here

Bromley Libraries demonstration Wednesday 19 July 

A demo over the plan to privatise Bromley’s 14 libraries will take place on Wed 19 July, 6pm at Bromley Civic Centre (BR1 3UH) ahead of a Council executive meeting. For more information go here
