KCL Unison Cleaners’ strike, 26 and 27 January

20 January 2017

Strike action at King’s College London by UNISON members employed by cleaning contractor Servest has been announced for Thursday 26th January and Friday the 27th of January – notice has been formally served to the employer.

We will need your support on our picket lines and protests which will happen on each of the KCL campuses over the two days of action. Please click to attend this event to receive updates of where your nearest picket will be and what you can do to support the striking workers. Details will be added after a members’ planning meeting this weekend.

UNISON members are striking over threats of significant proposed changes to their terms and conditions including reductions in working hours and potential redundancies. Our members have been suffering with impossible workloads and lack of cover and have reached breaking point. All internal procedures have been exhausted and the 98% ‘yes’ vote in the ballot for strike action is representative of the anger of our members who have been shown huge support and solidarity from other groups of staff and the student body at King’s.
