Construction workers occupy company offices

28 November 2016

Crossrail day of action

Around 200 construction workers took part in a day of action on Friday 25 November to demand a bonus (second tier payment) on the Crossrail project.

The demonstration took place at Crossrail’s head offices at 25 Canada Square.

Later protesters moved to protest outside Laing O’Rourke/ Crown House Technologies offices on Oxford street. The protest occupied the offices and then stopped traffic on Oxford street.

Unite the union members also raised Laing O’Rouke’s failure to recognise shop stewards on the project following their departure from the JIB national agreement.

Protests are expected to continue if there is no movement from project bosses.

A short film of the protest is available here
