RMT guards set to strike again to defend safety: 7 & 8 September

24 August 2016

Southernstrike_RMT-members-at-the-picket-line-at-VictoriaRMT has announced new strike dates – 7 & 8 September –  in the Southern guards dispute, following a suspension after three days of a five day strike earlier this month.

This is a very politicised dispute about safety on our railways Vs the profit. And while stations staff in RMT have just returned a big strike vote, TSSA stations staff are balloting to join strikes too. As are drivers in ASLEF.

At a time when Jeremy Corbyn is making a very popular call for our rail network to be renationalised, and commuters face chaos at the hands of private rail companies, rail workers striking to defend safety and the service deserve the solidarity of the whole trade union movement and wider travelling public.

Join the picket lines and show support!

Use the ‘Solidarity Selfie’ poster to garner support in your workplace/ union branch, and tweet/ share pictures with @RMT_union and #SouthernStrike

RMT guards on Southern are to strike from 0001 on Wednesday 7 September until 2359 on Thursday 8 September.
