Smashing victory for St Mungo’s Broadway strikers

On Wednesday morning (5 November) workers for the homelessness charity St Mungo’s Broadway were due to begin a 10 day strike with picket lines outside their workplaces followed by a mass protest outside of Griffin House. Instead they made their way to a victory rally at the St Mungo’s Broadway headquarters.

Crane drivers strikes continue

Crane drivers who work on some of the largest construction sites in Britain, employed by HTC Plant Limited took strike action on Friday 7 November.

The employers have responded by barring workers from working this weekend.

Further strikes are planned for Friday 14 and Friday 21 November.

GMB refuse and recycling workers in Sheffield indefinite strike continues (began Saturday 1 November)

GMB members employed by the Green Company, running five recycling centres as a subcontractor to Veolia for Sheffield City Council, are currently taking continuous strike action from 1st November in a dispute over pay, facilities and how the contract is managed.

UCU marking boycott

A national marking boycott began in the universities yesterday Thursday 6 November, with some university managements threatening a 100 percent pay dock for staff taking part. Bradford university has threatened an all out strike in response. More information and a list of the universities taking part are listed here.
