Ritzy to strike again this Sunday 6 July

3 July 2014

Ritzy cinema workers in South London, who are members of BECTU, are fighting for a living wage. They have been taking strike action, and recently voted by an overwhelming 95.3% in favour of further action in their second industrial action ballot. They are next due to strike this Sunday, 6th July. Their fight is a struggle for all low paid workers, which they must win.

They have called on their supporters to organise events/protests outside Picturehouses across the UK.

BECTU has called for a boycott of Picturehouse Cinemas until the employers agree a pay deal with he workers. Bosses had pulled out of talks with BECTU and unilaterally imposed a 4% pay deal, which still leaves almost all staff paid below the poverty line.

This Friday, 4th July, Unite the Resistance supporters will be leafleting the Cameo Cinema, 38 Home St, Edinburgh, EH3 9LZ from 6pm in support of the campaign for a living wage. Please come and help leaflet if you can. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Cameo+Cinema/@55.942814,-3.203809,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x26f7abf45a7e1bc9
