Dear SupportersYesterday our Unite Convenor at OHG and branch officer, Bryan Kennedy, was disgracefully sacked on gross misconduct with immediate effect. Many of the original ‘charges’ have been dropped and those that exist are highly questionable with limited evidence. This adds to our belief that Bryan had been suspended, now sacked, for his role as a Unite convenor. Bryan will be appealing and we will be sending further information over the coming days. We are now organising an urgent OHG members and supporters meeting for: Wed 25th June 6.30 – 8.30pm Venue – TBC Please do all you can to attend and encourage fellow members and supporters. Please ALSO join us on Saturday 21st June as we take part on the ‘No to Austerity’ Peoples march. This demonstration will assemble right on the BBC’s doorstep and march to Parliament to demand that the alternative to austerity is no longer ignored. We will be taking our ‘I’m Bryan’ campaign out on this event, so wear your t-shirts and march against the attacks on Bryan AND cuts effecting us all. Time: Assembles at 1pm head for our banner & Unite bloc Venue: BBC HQ, Portland Place London W1 1AA (Tube: Oxford Circus). We’ll be in touch! I’m Bryan (AKA Arti, Cheryl, Paul, Suz & Adam on Behalf of Unite Branch LE1111) PS Message of support from Unite Region: On behalf of the Regional Committee, we are sending fraternal greetings to our members at One Housing who are today taking action in support of Bryan, their senior steward, who they know is being victimised for the ‘crime’ of standing up for workers’ rights at a Housing organisation which sees fit to cut the wages of front line staff while awarding huge increases to its own Chief Executive. Bryan is a strong and forthright representative of his members and will not be intimidated by the tactics of this hostile employer. That is why 89% of members have voted for strike action to support him. The Region stands with you in your fight. Yours fraternally Peter Kavanagh Jim Kelly Regional Secretary Regional Chair |
