Shrewsbury pickets’ justice campaign delivers petition to Downing Street

16 December 2013

A petition with 100,000 names on it calling for the Shrewsbury pickets’ convictions to be quashed was delivered to Downing Street today. The 24 pickets were arrested five months after the 1972 building workers strike and charged under the 1875 Conspiracy Act. Six were jailed including Ricky Tomlinson.

Union leaders and MPs joined the delegation to Downing Street to deliver the petition.
