South Glos Unison members were back on strike today between 10am to 2pm and again the response from Unison members fighting an attack on their wages was brilliant. Around 30 pickets were present at Vinney Green Secure Unit and 14 at Yate library whilst 17 pickets were present at Woodleaze nursing home.
A petition from Unison for the public to sign has had an incredible response. Last Saturday morning around 1,000 people signed and today hundreds more library users added their names.
Postal workers refused to deliver mail in many instances and deliveries to Vinney Green were also affected.
The need for solidarity is vital for the workers involved as they are all very low paid.
South Glos Unison is appealing for trade union branches to make donations to its fighting fund.
Cheques can be sent to South Glos Unison 8 Downend Rd, Bristol, Avon BS16 5UJ.
If scheduled talks early next week fail then the next strike action will be on Thursday October 17th the same day as teachers are due to strike in the South West.
