Fantastic strike by firefighters in England and Wales

25 September 2013

Firefighters across England and Wales have walked out this afternoon, in a four-hour strike over attacks on their pensions. In many areas the strike which began at 12noon saw firefighters organise well supported picket lines, it what is a fantastic show of strength.

At the picket line at Euston fire station, in central London, firefighters set up tables to distribute leaflets and stickers to members of the public passing by.

Stikers were joined by solidarity delegations from Camden Unison, Camden Trade Council, PCS members from Euston Tower, the RMT, TSSA and GMB.

FBU members made the point that forcing firefighters to work longer will be detrimental to the fire service.

Making firefighters work when they are less physically fit will cost lives.

In Wales 250 firefighters rallied outside the Welsh Assembly.
