25 January 2013
Thousands are set to march in Lewisham on Saturday 26 January in defence of the NHS. The demonstration comes as Tory Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt is set to make the final announcement by 1 February on a sweeping package of attacks, including the closure of Lewisham hospital A&E, attacks on maternity services, mergers and privatisation across the whole South London Healthcare Trust.
Saturday’s march follows a previous demonstration in November reportedly 15,000 strong in relentless rain, which was led by hundreds of health workers from Lewisham hospital.
Now the local campaign is calling on people to march again to keep up the pressure to stop the attacks. Join the march, invite colleagues and friends and bring a union/ campaign banner:
Assemble 12 noon at the roundabout by Lewisham train station. March past the hospital to Mountsfield Park for rally
