Following a 65% vote for strike action by PCS members the threat of the first redundancies in the DWP has been withdrawn.
The PCS had pointed out that 43 compulsory redundancies were totally unnecessary in an organisation of 100,000 and many union members felt that it would have opened the door to many more redundancies.
Congratulations to the PCS for this important victory.
As the PCS prepares to ballot it’s 250,000 members for action this is an important reminder that strike action can beat this callous Tory government.
