It is being reported that the occupations have ended after the staff received assurances from the receiver that they will be paid, the issue they were occupying over.

Prior to that the occupations had spread to Cork and Tallaght.

Last night workers in 2 HMV stores in Limerick occupied their stores in response to the news that the company had gone into receivership.

It was expected that workers in more of the 16 HMV stores in Ireland would join them today.

This is an excellent response to the jobs massacre on our High Streets.

Unite the Resistance congratulates the HMV workers in Limerick. If workers in the 250 shops across Britain join the action their jobs can be saved, and it would send a message to every worker across the country whose job is threatened – Strike, Occupy, Unite, Resist!
