Unite the Resistance is organising a rally in central London on Monday 15 October, just a few days before the big 20 October TUC demo, to discuss the case for a general strike.
Speakers will debate how the landmark vote to examine ‘the practicalities of a general strike’ at this year’s TUC Congress can be turned into action.
Monday’s speakers will now include a student activist from Quebec. A very militant student stuggle in the Candaina province brought in trade unionists and put half a million people on the streets of Montreal.
Speakers
Mark Serwotka, general secretary PCS
Jeremy Corbyn MP
Jeremie Bedard-Wien, Quebec student activist and executive member of Classe coalition
Ellen Clifford, Disabled People Against Cuts
Ronnie Draper, general secretary BFAWU
Clara Osagiede, RMT cleaners’ grade rep, London Underground
Sean Vernell, UCU executive (pers cap)
The students eventually beat back a tuition fees hike — and helped bring down the Liberal government in last month’s elections.
Quebec student Jeremie Bedard-Wien will join Mark Serwotka, Jeremy Corbyn and other speakers on the platform for the rally. If you are in London, please come along.
