Remploy workers stage fantastic strike – out again on Thurs 26 July

19 July 2012

Remploy workers staged the first of two 24-hour strikes today. The action across the country was magnificent, with lots of lively picket lines.

The workers, members of the Unite and GMB unions, will be out again next Thursday, 19 July, in their campaign to stop the government closing 36 of the 54 remaining Remploy factories that provide employment for disabled workers. They are also on a continuous overtime ban.

If the factories are closed, more than 1,700 workers – over 1,500 of them people with disabilities – will be thrown on the dole.

How to help

Visit the picket lines on Thursday at your nearest Remploy factory.

Send messages of support and donations to the Remploy workers’ strike fund. Please make donations payable to ‘GMB’ and send to GMB, Grove Hall, 60 College Grove Rd, Wakefield, WF1 3RN.
